Stage III Controller with stock trigger. |
The STAGE III is a versatile controller that adapts to the cars being raced.   It was designed for the Vintage HO Racer.   Finally, one controller that can comfortably run all your cars.   Removable control boards match the controller to all HO ranges from Tjets to Super Stocks.   By using one controller for all your cars, the wiping surface and trigger feel remain constant and familiar.   The controller comes in two versions, the Stage III and Stage III R.
The STAGE III R is a Resistor-Only version that covers the 30-360 ohm range through the use of 7 different control boards.   Each resistor control board has an 11-step adjustable range with uniform change.   Each switch position adjusts the resistance 1/10 of the total range, exactly.   No more guessing what the resistance is.   The switch permits resistance change throughout the rotation vice only at one end like most adjustable controllers.   The control boards are available in the following ranges (30-60, 45-90, 60-120, 75-150, 90-180, 120-240, and 180-360). There are no transistors so it should be legal for most "Resistor Controller" only racing.   It has resistive Brakes and Coast.        The STAGE III has all the features of the Stage III R plus the added benefit of being able to become an Electronic Controller.   Insert the Electronic Control Board into the controller and the internal transitor turns on and controls the power to the car.   Another transistor controls the Coast extending the range all the way down to full stop.   The main transistor is totally isolated in resistor mode so should it fail the controller can be switched back to resistor mode by changing the control board so racing can continue.   A nice emergency feature.   No other electronic controller can function with a failed transistor like this one can.   The Stage III is a linear controller providing smooth DC power 100% of the time.   Power pulses aren't present like in Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) controllers.   The transistors are bipolar and not subject to static electricity like MOSFET transistors. |
